Hello helloo! Greetings from 5:30 AM.

God I’m feeling so good this morning and I don’t exactly have a reason why. I felt motivated to do my (usual evening) morning workout, text my mother to let her know that I was thinking of her(instead of my usual morning grunts), rapped in the car to the grandma lane(slow-traffic lane), I was in a general in a all-around-good mood. I kid you not.
My question is… How do I make this happen everyday, how can I enjoy such motivation and well feelings on a consistent basis?
“But what happens if I lose this feeling?”–I thought to myself. Can’t I feel this way all the time?
I thought and thought, and came up with some ways on how I can keep up this mentality on a daily basis:
1. Tell my family and friends about my accomplishments.
When I accomplish something I am really proud of – whether it’s writing another outstanding blog post, or how I made a difference in another person’s life-that’s when I feel my best! Not only am I sharing and connecting with the people I love, but I’m also reaffirming my hard work and with positive affirmations. Give yourself a pat on the back! Call a grandparent or e-mail a favorite aunt to share the news. Celebrate with family and friends!
2. Limit my face time. It’s OK to give yourself a once-over in the mirror before you head out in the morning.
- Face washed?
- Fly zipped?
- Hair not standing straight up (unless you like it that way)?
3. Accept compliments genuinely.
When your friend says,”You look great,” don’t brush her off with “I think these pants make me goofy.” Just say “Thanks,” and let the words sink in.
4. Celebrate taking care of myself.
Take time today to care of your skin with great-smelling soap to lotion. Clean and cut your nails. Yes, this is definitely applies to both sexes.
5. Make meals something special. This is one of my favorite things to do and it should be yours too!
Even if you’re only having cereal with your siblings, create traditions that will make the moment memorable. Set the table. Take turns sharing funny dreams from the night before. At dinner, dim the lights and have your parents light a candle for the table. Enjoy giving yourself the fuel you need and sharing your ideas and feelings with people eating with you.
6. Cheer myself up when needed.
If it’s daytime, open up the window and let in some fresh air and sunlight. If it’s nighttime, put on some clean pajamas and curl up with a favorite book, movie, or CD. Feeling stressed? Take a warm bath or shower. Imagine the water washing away your worries. Also try to create your own peace rituals. When I’m angry or stressed out, I like to take three long, slow, deep breaths. Write in your journal or listen to what I like to call, “feel good music.” So turn on some of your favorite music! Find ways to calm your spirit, and return to those practices whenever you feel anxious.
7. Start a dream list.
Everything starts from a vision. Find a pretty notebook and write down places you’d like to visit, experiences you’d like to have, people you’d like to meet, and skills you’d like to learn. A dream list is a great start to creating a life filled with fun, adventure, and interesting experiences. Put a box next to each item on your list so you can check it off when it happens. After all, the first step towards any path is knowing you’re ending up.
8. Wear clothes that make me feel good.
You know which shirt makes you feel self-conscious and which pants make you squirm. Talk to your friends and fam about why you don’t feel good in those clothes and ask if you can give them to charity. Wear your favorite color. If you feel great in it, your confidence will show!
9. Develop my own style.
Experiment with clothing to see what makes you feel the best. Ask for people’s opinion-(important note* have people guide(key word, guide.) you into finding who you are, and not dictate who or what you should be.)
10. Learn something new.
I’m always constantly learning. Read a good article about something going on in the world. You will feel like you are knowledgeable about some current events, and it will give you a sense of self-importance.
11. Believe in myself.
Though it may sound cheesy, it actually does make you more confident. Believe that you can accomplish whatever task is at hand. When you finish, you’ll feel good because you knew you could do it. So don’t give up and try your best.

I find that everyone has that “one song” that gets them in the mood, for me, it changes periodically. As of right now it’s a song called, “The Pursuit of Happiness” by Kid Cudi.
And Yes, I understand that Hip Hop gets a lot of crap for “what is legitimate music” and what’s not. But I think like everything else, you gotta understand it’s history to truly see where something is coming from. And between me and you, I’m a huge fan of hip hop’s history and how it has evolved over the years to become what it is today. Especially this song by Kid Cudi, it’s not about money, “bitches,” drugs… just feel good music about the pursuit of happiness…

nice post parker, you elaborated true points
Hi Sandeep,
thankyou for the kind words
Parker, I found you from a comment you left on MY blog and I’m so glad!! You’re so funny and down-to-earth. These are a great and unusual recommendations….not the typical stuff you see about finding and keeping happiness. I love the fact that you mentioned making meal time special. That’s a tradition I’ve had since childhood and I think it’s really important. And your comment about personal care is interesting. I’ve started treating my nightly “beauty regimen” as a kind of meditation and it really does relax me and make me feel like I’m doing something GOOD for myself–a great way to round out the day.
Great post! Looking forward to reading your blog regularly
ha ha…I don’t call my personal care “beauty regimens,” but it’s definitely important.
thank you for the compliments… I try to add a bit of me into all my posts by delivering some insight coming from left field–never know what hit ya till it does!
cheers!
Hey Parker,
Nice post and some solid ideas in there. I am a big fan of hip hop but I have been so busy of late that I never make time to listen to new tunes anymore. That’s an awesome song. Put me in an awesome mood. That’s a great idea for a blog post….put an interesting song and it makes people stick around your blog!
Cheers
Hi Justin,
Ha ha.. thank you, I was really concerned whether or not my readers would approve of hip hop or not. But in the end decided that people come to my page because they at least find something interesting about my likes…
Oh, to be honest w. you.. my intentions aren’t too make my readers stick around longer. Although that’s always a good thing
Thanks for stopping by!
Dude I can’t stop listening to this song. It has been pumping me up all day! Thanks again. Also, thanks for checking out my blog. Appreciate your commentary.

Thanks Farouk, hope you’re doing well yourself
Believing in one’s self is the one that touches me the most. There is no greater happiness than realizing the manifestation of our own capacity.
I couldn’t agree more, Walter. Thanks for stopping by buddy!
