“Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Choose your words, for they become actions. Understand your actions, for they become habits. Study your habits, for they will become your character. Develop your character, for it becomes your destiny.” –Buddha
We all have all had grand schemes for ourselves at one point or another. When I was young, I wanted to be everything! An Astronaut, a professional Athlete, and my favorite dream job while growing up….The President.
But what happened to all of our dreams? How come we’re not doing what we’ve always dreamed of? Were we young and naive? Did we “grow up” and realize that our dreams were all just fantasy? Or did use the Three Infamous Phrases to talk ourselves out of what could have been?
Well I’m here to tell you that anything is possible, I don’t want to sound cliche but it’s the truth. I don’t wanna preach to you the many “rags to riches” stories of well known celebs like Oprah Winfrey. I am however going to tell you a little about my story and how I now live a life and career that I truly love.
For those of you who follow my blog and have an idea of my background of how I came to be. But what many of you don’t know, are the mindsets turned into habits that I had to adapt in order to achieve my dream.
With that being said, here are 7 Habits to get anyone started into making their dreams come true:
1.Know what you want and why you want it.
You need to know what you want out of your actions and the reasons why you want it. You will not be motivated to do what you are supposed to do if you are not clear on what you want. Clarity is your power to go to your target. Be clear on your goals. You need to decide what you want and then make the commitment on achieving it.
2.Choose the area that you love to do.
Your actions to your goals will need to be repeated over and over again. If you do not love what you do, it is very hard to continue doing. Your mind will tell yourself that you have no fun doing it. This is why people give up a lot easier than they are supposed to. Many people said they do not have choice doing what they do not like. On the contrary, they do not really decide to do what they love. Instead, they let themselves in doing what they do not like. It is up to your decision to stop what you think you must do and go to the area that you love most.
3.Start doing something.
Another thing that happens to many people is that when they want something, they do not even bother to start doing something. Tony Robbins always mentions his technique on actions that he never leaves the site of making decision without doing something toward his goals. You can do that also by start doing something toward your goal. Once you have the first step, other steps will be a lot easier for you.
4.Keep your momentum and keep your target at sight.
Once you start doing something, don’t let your actions die afterwards. Keep doing what is in your plan. Do not let your mind flies away while you take action. Focus on your goals. You can make a vision board or some goal vision note to see as often as you want. This will remind you the importance of your goal and motivate you.
5.Evaluate your actions and results.
Review your actions and see if you need to correct anything. Keep your statistic and compare with the standard. Change your approach if you need to but never change your goals.
6.Resolve not to give up.
Not giving up is one of the best qualities of successful people. You need to make sure that you also have that quality. Commit to yourself that you will not give up no matter what happens.
7.Visualize your success regularly.
Visualization will make your subconscious mind attract what you want into your life. This is according to the law of attraction. You can attract all situations and attributes favorable to your goal achievement by visualization daily. Visualize in your mind as if you are achieving your goals in front of you. Feel it and absorb what happens. You may want to add the background audio while you are visualizing. It will enhance your attraction. There are many background audios in the market. Attraction Accelerator can be one of your choices.

Hey Parker!
Wow, outstanding post on following through on your actions.
I specially liked the 3rd habit, to actually START DOING SOMETHING.
A lot of times I just think about it, talk about it, fret about and totally study it but I never actually do something or take immediate massive action towards my goal.
Definitely looking forward to another outstanding post.
Decide, Commit & Act Until you succeed!
Hey Daryl–
I think for most of us, the hardest part is to actually START doing something. To “rev” up that engine, but once it’s on, it’s pretty much smooth”er” sailin’ from there on out.
Thanks for your contribution!
hello parker,
how are you?
i loved this post and found it very instructive. my take home thought for the day is keep your momentum and target in sight. it’s important because it reminds us we’ve got something to look forward to and this builds our confidence and ideally make us take action.
take care and have a lovely weekend.
Hey Ayo!
How are you buddy? It has been awhile… thanks for the props, as always
You have a great weekend yourself!
Hi Parker,
Sometimes cliches are cliches because they are true. I too believe we all start out with the infinite capacity to create the lives we dream of, be it President, Astronaut etc. The only thing I would add to this is to always pay attention to the ruthless rules of reality. Often times people will come up with huge dreams as a way to sabotage themselves (I have seen this time and time again). Some people should not start a new business without sound business plan. (you would be amazed at how many people dive into something like this blindly.) Just as the chances are I’m not going to play for the Celtics next year no matter how hard I practice (being 5’7 and 60++). Outrageous dreams can be a clever way for the ego to keep us small. Your 7 steps are a guaranteed success formula with our feet firmly on the ground.
Hey Rob! Very good addition, I actually have nothing to add but just agree.
You are definitely spot on.
As always, Thank you for the contribution!
The most powerful on your list and the one I stubbornly cling unto is my resolve to never give up. Following our dreams means facing challenges that will oftentimes prompt us to throw in the towel. Dream do come true if we never stop making an effort to push through.
Hey Walter,
I know exactly what you mean, buddy. I’ve always been a fighter, maybe because I’m so used to not getting my way..lol.
To our success!
Fab stuff this Parker. It has a nice feel to it and love that intro (I was going to look after Charlie’s Angels when I grew up after Bosley retired!).
Let me add my own – Colour it Up! Magnify the whole dream. Imagine it in full colour; bright, vibrant, energetic, full of pizzazz, a kaleidoscope of rich delights. Really helps ramp up self belief. Like my next dream to win Wimbledon in my 40′s!!
Hey John,
I like your suggestion, Colour it up..hmmm.. I really like the sound of that. It definitely sets a new tone into “getting excited” about my passion and hobbies…
Do you play semi pro tennis, John? By far one of my favorite sports
