During the 2008 US Census, most Americans said they approved of racial or ethnic intermarriage. At least six of every 10 people checked “it would be fine.” But data gathered from online dating sites illustrates a different story between what people believe and how they behave.
“According to a new UC Berkeley study of one million online daters, cyberspace is just as segregated as the real world. When it comes to dating online, whites prefer whites, research reveals. Whether you love her or not, there’s no denying that Lady Gaga has joined the ranks of the most influential people today.
After inking a deal with Target—Gaga held a meeting with the execs and demanded they stop funding anti-gay groups.
Subsequently, Target has rescinded any and all financial support to anti-gay groups and has made a donation of $500,000 to LGBT(lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender) groups.
Isn’t this news kind of insane? The fact that Lady Gaga is powerful enough to change one of the biggest corporations is pretty mind-blowing. Imagine if Lady Gaga was a creepy Christian who hated gay people. That alternative is terrifying.
Regardless of your feelings about Gaga, it’s important to note that she’s a progressive liberal who has been named by Time Magazine as 2010′s Most Influencial Person, beating out the Queen of Daytime Television herself, Oprah Winfrey. Whoa. That’s quite an impressive feat. And so American. [click to continue…]
